Post Thanksgiving

Well I had a busy Thanksgiving this year... By far more busy than past years.

Started out by meeting some of the boyfriends (Mister Wonderful) family friends. Before they got there we had a shot of whiskey for Mister Wonderfuls son who I will call Golden Boy and my mother and father. Golden Boy passed away a few months ago an this is the first holiday since his passing. We had a few Guinness with them and got to know each other a bit. I don't know how I was so nervous going into meeting them but damn was I ever! Best line of the day came from the husband, who like my man is originally from England, "So, are you a local girl?" To which I answered yes. "So do you have any tattoos?" (He pronounces ta-oooos) Again, I answered yes. He comes back at me with, "Good, I only speak to tattooed women. That's why I'm not speaking to my wife today." You can imagine we got along quite well.

From there I went with Mister Wonderful to meet his mother and her family. His grandfather was wearing an NRA hat!!! Yeah gpa! All went well with his family. Then I was off to see my oldest brother. We met him and my fathers friends at a local bar and a had a drink. All was going great that day. Until my brother followed us to the next bar. Now like I said, this is the first holiday since Golden boy passed so you can imagine it was not an easy day! Mister Wonderful, his cousin and I all had a break down moment when we had another shot for Golden Boy. Well the three of us all drank too much that night.

Now don't worry, no one was arrested and we all got home safe. Happy holidays!

Changes and Sudz

There have been a ton of things going on lately...
Many heart wrenching, life changing, soul shaking things going on.

I come from a life where the cards have always been stacked against me, but this, this has been a big doosy! If it wasn't for great friends, Im not sure how I would have come out of this... I do have to give props to the guy I have been seeing as well (Lets call him Big Sexy). Hes been great through all of this too. He came in right after everything started.

Best side to all of this happening is I have started helping a friend, Mama B, with her homemade soap company, Bubba Sudz. Her soap is FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC!!!! Mostly lye soap with 100% organic ingredients. She has a few glycerin soaps as well. Mama B has cupcake and cake shaped soaps, that smell good enough to eat too! Beer based soaps, bath bombs, baby soaps and much more. We have been working on the website and twitter, Facebook, ect.

GO CHECK OUT BUBBA SUDZ!!!

I am positively terrible at this...

Yep, I said it. I am terrible at keeping a blog.
With all sorts of social media, I tend to forget about certain ones from time to time. Worst of all this one.

Little up date...
Its RODEO WEEKEND! My favorite weekend of the entire year. Rancho Mission Viejo, in San Juan Capistrano, puts on a two day rodeo every year that leads up to the PBR (Pro Bull Riding Association) finals in Vegas. Growing up my Pa and I went every year without fail. Unfortunately, I had to miss the rodeo last year; broke my heart. This year my best friend, lets call him Mister G, works for the people putting it on so this year should be the best one yet. To top it all off Buzz is coming home from NorCal! The adventures of Buzz and Woody continue in full effect!

Last time Buzz was in town we spent a few days together and had a blast. It was incredibly hard to say goodbye again after not seeing each other for nearly a year. She had just graduated Cosmetology school and was awaiting State Board testing. So as a congrats present I let her know she was going to get a new tattoo!
Her bright idea was to get matching ones... I was not too excited about that, matching tattoos are often lame and ridiculous. Her idea was amazing though. We now have matching tattoos... After hearing what she wanted to get I completely caved in.

That's right... Infinity and beyond! Same place on opposite sides. I swear she drugged or hypnotized me! I do love it now and well, its one hell of a lot better than a Tweety bird or matching hearts or something.

Aside from that nonsense, I have been crafting up a storm and The Baker and her husband Mr. Star Wars have been sending great ideas my way. Due to the fact that they live in Toronto and I'm here in California we craft together over Skype. Especially with the rodeo coming up I have been trying to get ready for that, cutting old jeans into new shorts, embroidery, crocheting neckerchiefs and so on. The shorts came out awesome and  fit great. I tried to do one of those old t-shirt re-purposing tutorials that are all the rage right now. Yeah, it was a super FAIL! The neckerchiefs came out perfect and I plan to make many more in different sizes, patterns and colors. I think I will use them this winter also instead of a scarf.

To the left is actually a teal color (I have terrible lighting!) in crochet thread. To the right I'm calling this one Big Red also in crochet thread. And below is a plum colored wool/acrylic blend light worsted weight yarn.
The two in thread are the same pattern and the one in yarn is a shell lace pattern (once I perfect them I will write out and post). In the thread the shell lace doesn't show up as well and looks like a lot of random loops. Ill try to make another yarn neckerchief in a lighter color so you can see the lace detail.

I'm also working on a blanket for my brother... In a heat wave never make a giant granny square blanket for a man over 6 foot tall! It is taking me forever!(see progress below) I made his daughter a pink and purple checkerboard blanket (see below) and he decided he needs a handmade blanket too. A really large one that will cover all of him... but not a normal granny square of shell work afghan. of course not, he wants one single granny square alternating three colors. Its way too hot for this right now!!!
In progress for brother
Completed for niece

It's been awhile...

So after months of no computer, I'm back!

My artists black is GONE, finally. i have recently been extended an opportunity to possibly have my art permanently displayed in an art gallery and tattoo shop in my home town. This is so big for me. Needless to say, I've been drawing like a mad woman. Bought a few extra paint supplies and cant wait to get started again.

Lately (for about the last year) I have been really into 'Day of the Dead' styled art work. i figure there is a lot I can do to make it my own and show different skills, so maybe that will be the first set of work I have in a gallery. Gah, still just so excited! Not every one is so happy about the art style I have been into recently. A few select people think it is a manifestation of my unhappiness I hold inside; honestly I've been the happiest I have ever been the past few months.

Ahhhh friends, I have some great ones!

So yesterday my day started going down the drain... I hate when that happens. And then, I talk to my best girl friend ( I like to call her Buzz Lightyear, Buzz for short), I swear I don't even have to tell her I'm having a crappy day she somehow knows and says something to make me laugh. I freaking love her! Then my day goes bad again, what does she do? Tells me exactly what I need to hear!

Today I woke up in a great mood. Then work got stressful and well, there goes my good mood. So I'm in a meeting, no big deal, when I get out I check my phone... Two missed calls from an 808 area code and it ended in 9999... Then I realize that its the number of a satellite phone. My very best friend who is deployed in Iraq told me he was going to call me. Now I'm really pissed! I haven't talked to him in months!!!!! I checked my voice-mail, he left one. "Hey its ****. Call me back... Oh wait, you cant 'cus I'm in Iraq." FML. But he called me like 45 minutes later and I finally got to talk to him! Wooo Hoooo! Totally made my week! Got to hear him wish me a happy early birthday and catch up on things. I cant wait till he gets home so I can go visit him. Its scary having your best friend be Special Forces and be over seas. It gets real lame being so worried all the time.

I am so very blessed I have such great people in my life that are and always will be there to  push me to try harder, to lend me a shoulder and offer me a smile and a warm hug. I couldn't ask for more than that!

Now with all that being said, i present you with todays song:
day 03 - a song that makes you happy
This is for you Buzz! This song always cheers me up. Plus Buzz and I have a tendency to call each other when we hear this song and play it for the other.

Crazy Little Life....

Well where to start?

The niece and nephew are absolute characters! While eating dinner Monkey tells "T.T. you are almost pregnant." So calm and matter-of-factly this statement comes out of her mouth. I had no idea what to say back to this four year old. She also now insists I put make up on her while I get ready on the weekend mornings. She is going to be quite the handful. The monster has been quite mouthy lately but damn is he gonna be a great baseball player one day. He is hitting at least one double a game and he is only five and in his last year of t-ball. Also, he can almost ollie... Just needs some practice on the landing! I will upload a few videos soon.

We had a night that no one wanted to cook, so naturally I offer to get Del Taco since it is my favorite fast food. Well $40.00 dollars and six full bags later we sat down to eat. Yes $40.00 and six bags. I know, you've never seen so much Del... Well if you were wondering what that much Del Taco looks like, here it is:

Six bags and four drinks.

Drinks, tacos of many kids, burritos and fries.
Yes, we ate it all. I know, and no we are not fat.

This past week I had the memorial service of one of my best friend's step father. He had a rare disease called CJD(click here for more info), they discovered he was a carrier of this disease after having a stroke in the art class he taught. The stroke brought the dormant disease to life and sadly from there things went down hill. The service however, was beautiful. Sunflowers everywhere! There was a canvas we used as a doodle board to draw things that will forever remind us of him, I drew a Diet Pepsi can. Considering many of his student were there, it turned out fabulously. We watched some great videos and heard his brother read a letter he had written to him. Through the tears there were smiles, and even laughs. Upon each table there were little pieces of paper that read things like "Most people wear Spiderman pajamas, Spiderman wears Rick Vandruff pajamas." and "Rick Vandruff will never have a heart attack, his heart isn't nearly foolish enough to attack him." or my favorite "Rick Vandruff doesn't have nightmares, nightmares have Rick Vandruff... And then they have to go pee."

On my way home from this event, I stopped to get a pack of smokes and what do you know there is a place not even a block from the restaurant! So I go in and this weird kid is kinda following me around. I pay no attention to it, cus hey, I'm pretty hot. (jk) Well turns out this kid thinks I am someone else. He approaches me down one isle and says "Are you wit dude?", at first I thought he said something else and asked him to repeat himself. He did and I was so confused by what he was asking me, he said never-mind and walked away(walked out of the store it turns out). I tell the in-store security guard to watch out for him, he got fairly close to me and looked high out of his mind. So I check out with a pack of cigarettes and a pack of small tissues, in-case I hear a sad song and cry on the way home, and walk out of the store and to my car. I notice this kid following me, so before he can see what car i am walking to, I told him to stop following me or I was going to call the cops. Since I had been at court allllll day that day I really didn't want to take it there. He informed me that he was going to get my plate numbers and do the same, since I helped his "friend" steal $200.00 from him. *Apparently he thought I was the girl that was driving the get away car. Can you say drug deal gone bad?!?!?* I walked back in the store told the night manager what was going on, she made me stand behind the counter to protect myself from any rash actions this guy may have, and called the security guard back to the store. meanwhile this guy is wearing an over sized jacket and wont take his hands out of his pockets. I hadn't noticed it till I started to calm down inside the store. I wanted nothing more than to just pummel this guy with my fists. The security guard talked to him outside for almost 30 minutes, finally got him to leave. Apparently he said I drove a black Scion TC, which I definitely do NOT, and that he was almost positive I was this getaway driver. i showed the manager and security guard my Blazer and my ID showing that I'm not from the Seal Beach/Long Beach area. The security guard made sure the kid drove away and did not come back into the area for five minutes before walking me to my car and sending me on my way. But not before he told me he saw what he thought was a knife in the kids pocket that he was playing with, and let me know I am lucky I was smart enough to go back in the store. Ugh, glad I'mm a smart little cookie, getting stabbed wouldn't have made for a very good night!

On the bright side of things, I didn't get stabbed, Easter today was good(aside from the rain), and my birthday dinner is coming up. After that is my real birthday and a trip to see my bestie! I call her Buzz Light-Year; she loves me "To infinity and beyond!" Yes, she calls me Woody.

Andddd, here is day 2 of the song thingy:
I have a few songs I really cant stand, however, my friend that we shall call BearJew plays this over and over and over and over and i can no longer take the pain in my ears, Jay-Z you are the current winner for
day 02 - your least favorite song
